I'm not sure I understand. Because Obama is a member of this church, it is expected that he makes a comment on Farrakhan's winning this magazine prize? I'm not sure that I fully agree that he has to do that. By not saying anything is it assumed that Obama is anti-semitic? That's just not true.

Not saying anything is an action!

I don't think that is exactly what this writer said. I think what he is saying is that- Rev Wright's statements in the past and his alignment and praise (and reward to) Farrakhan make him someone who is not an appropriate contact for the future president of the USA. IF you are going to represent ALL the people- and you want this crazy job- then you are going to have to compromise and if that means, disconnecting from an openly anti-semitic and anti white church then so be it. I also think the writer clearly stated that he did think this meant Barack was rascist or anti-semitic. Again its about showing his other voters that he stands for them as well. Its funny before this i was pretty much won over from the HRC camp to the Obama camp and then I watched his speach over this. And I thought- can't you just give a little? This minister and Farrahkan have insited hurtful poisonous thoughts. Be brave and stand up for the rest of us and condemn him! But disconnecting from his church would be politically too declarative and that's sad!

BTW- how would you have felt if while in Office Bill Clinton attended a Church where the minister was for "racial purity?" Don't you think that you would want Willy to have said something. Isn't silence deadly?
